Sabre Norris + 540

She is 9 years of old, lives in New South Wales, Australia and last week she landed her first ever 540 on a vert ramp. Sabre Norris has been skating for 3 years now and she is simply killing it. Here is what she had to say to the homies over at 'The Berrics' about it all:

"My favorite trick is a 540. I watched Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins do it on the internet, and I just had to do it. That was my 75th attempt of the day. Every time I tried one and didn’t land it I put a rock on the table. It ended up being my 75th rock. I was frothing. I did some 720s too. Not proper. I called it 540 to revert to splat. I didn’t cry though. My goal is to do 100 of them before this Saturday. I’m up to 75. I still can’t ride a bike, but I can do a 540."

Sabre has so much to teach us all when it comes to persistence and goal setting. We also love the fact that it was a female skater that inspired her!

Duljug Dumanjug 2014

From what we have heard this race pretty much went down in a typhoon. The weather tried to rain on their parade but one thing was for sure, none of these girls planned on slowing down.

1st - Tamara Prader
2nd - Kara Marbe Urbiztondo
3rd - Gemma Holland
4th - Ayumi Oride

Catalina Island Classic 2014

This track is full of technical corners, which means you have to be in complete control of your board. And Elena was all over it crossing the line first miles ahead of the other 3 girls.  Alicia came through for second rocking out in her radical new leathers. You can watch the race HERE!

1st - Elena Corrigall
2nd - Alicia Fillback
3rd - Marissa Nunez
4th - Victoria Waddington

Attack of Danger Bay 2014

This race was straight up tight, there wasn't much between the girls when they came hauling into carnage corner. Like the true champ that she is Elena kept her line and took out the win!

4th - Anna O'Neill
5th - Rachel Bruskoff

Britannia Classic 2014

Elena went from face planting on the start line to some how making her way to the front of the pack and taking out the win. Gabi and Rachel had an awesome crash on the last corner as well! You could say that the girls were skating on more of a  river than a road.

1st - Elena Corigall
2nd - Victoria Waddignton
3rd - Gabi Murray-Roberts
4th - Rachel Bruskoff

Push Culture Family Picnic 2014

This hill is straight up gnarly!

1st - Emily Pross
2nd - Cassandra Duchesne
3rd - Katie Fry

The crazy part of all this is, the season has only just started, there is plenty of awesome racing to come. There is no doubt though that the quality of female riders is growing. It would not surprise us to see some of the women giving the men a run for their money in the open division in the remaining races. Will anyone be able to beat Elena Corrigall, if so, who? Chicks 'N' Pro-Model Decks

Its a pretty cool thing to see the increase of women's pro model decks being introduced into the world of skateboards. We have gone on a google hunt to try and find a couple of these decks. Below are five that we have discovered but we think that there are more out there and we need your help to find them! If you know of any that we missed, comment below!!!

Maga's Pan
Maga McWhinnie Pro-Model
Fibretec Longboards

This ultralight deck is the newest model from Fibretec. Designed by  Maga Mcwhinnie to shred all terrain. This Swiss handmade board has a smooth W concave as the Flying Pan with a mellow micro drop front and back to lock your feet in. Featuring a new directional shape, wider in the front and with a shorter wheelbase. Its build to be super responsive, fun and light. It has a urethane protection in the front and back nose of the board which protects it from crashes : You won't need a nose guard. This would be a great deck if you starting to learn how to do downhill or freeride. You can check it out in action under the feet of Maga HERE!

Ursa (Major & Minor)
Amanda Powell Pro-Model
Riviera Skateboards

The Ursa made of the HipBone mold is a symmetrical design with conjoining features to construct a performance based platform with  deep-pocketed sweet spots, a gradual rocker flowing into a micro-drop and a kick nose and tail. This mold will keep your feet locked in position throughout your ride without compromising the comfort or confidence needed at high speeds. The double kicks offer a variety of benefits for your freeriding and sliding endeavors. This board is offered in two different widths (9.0" and 9.75") making life easier for those like me with tiny feet. Wanna hear Amanda talk about the URSA more check it out HERE!

Meow Skateboards

Californian based female skateboard company 'Meow Skateboards' currently have three pro model decks in their product line up. Team riders Amy Caron, Vanessa Torres and Lacey Baker all have there own signature decks with Meow and they are pretty freaking rad. All three of the decks come in a range of different sizes from 7.75" to 8.5" so you can find the size that fits you best.

Those are the ones we could find, have we missed any?

CCOTW: Freeride Flamingos

Not too sure why I called these two 'Chick Clips of the Week' Freeride Flamingos. It might have something to do with the fact I really like Flamingos and Micaela Wilson and Alicia Fillback are two of the greatest female freeriders in the business. (Please note: they are also way more than just freeriders #skateeverything)

Alicia skating some beautiful terrain. Photo: Skate Blood Orange

First up the video from Loaded Longboards of Micaela destroying wheels by kicking it sideways.

And secondly from Alicia & Skate Blood Orange we have her throwing it down with this baller raw run.

Elena + Predator = RadCity

A few weeks back helmet giants 'Predator' announced the newest member to their team for 2014. None other than our friend and fellow chick ripper Elena Corrigall. If you have never had the opportunity to watch this woman skate then you are legitimately missing out. Its not just what she does but how she does it. She is the current IDF World Champion (2013), and has already started the 2014 season off with a bang by taking out the Catalina Island Classic last week. Watch her dominate the field HERE!

All we can say is that Predator are lucky to have her! Check out this welcome to the team video of Elena and Predator Team Manager David Price flying down Maryhill a few weeks ago! Elena is one bird that was made for her board! Do you think she can do two years in a row, tell us what you think?
